To switch from manual trip logging to automatic trip recording you have to set up and activate trip recording. You can do that by clicking the highlighted item on your home screen.
Alternatively, open settings and open "Activation & Permissions".
You can activate trip recording in the settings or by clicking on various hints throughout the app.
